Happy Post-Halloween! I hope everyone had fun. I decided to lay low this year and opted out of dressing up like a sexy bus driver or a sexy meter maid or a sexy janitor or a sexy funeral home director.
Dude, I'm getting so excited/nervous for the election! I'm ready for it to be over, but I'm also very ready for a good outcome, and I know I'll be seriously disappointed if outcome = ng. I think I'm going to plan some sort of Election Day gathering so there will be support all around.
Have you read David Sedaris's thoughts on undecided voters?
"To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. 'Can I interest you in the chicken?' she asks. 'Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?' To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked. I mean, really, what’s to be confused about?"
Monice sent that one to me, and I loved it so much that now I've shared it with pretty much everyone I know, including you. You should check out the entire piece in the New Yorker; it's great.
It's started pouring rain in Seattle, and I think it's a surefire sign of what's to come over the next four months. Yaaaaaaay.
I'm enjoying a low-key weekend. Today I visited the eastside to do a little shopping and to meet up with the ex for a very nice catch-up lunch at Panera. Then, it was off to Ms. Jen's for a artsy afternoon/evening. The ladies were working on putting scrapbooks together, while I wrote Travis's birthday letter that's been in the works for ages. I need to get it to him asap, as I'm sure he's been wondering where it is. Tomorrow it will be finishing the ballot time, and probably lunch with a friend. Life is quiet but good.
