Happy Election Day everyone! Ok, so there are still about 20 minutes to go, but I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve who just can't wait. I'm so excited about this election. When I was little, I used to get so keyed up about things that I anticipated--first day of school, parties, getting dressed up for Halloween, etc.--that I absolutely wouldn't sleep the night before. It was maddening and dumb. I just couldn't contain my excitement, but this self-defeating behavior meant that I'd be exhausted for the very event I wanted to enjoy so much. Now that I'm older, sleepless nights don't happen as often. I simply wear myself out and must rest. When they do occur, more often than not they are about worry, stress, or sadness rather than happy anticipation. Although, I can think of a couple of nights of little sleep this year that were very fun. Maybe one of my New Year's resolutions this time will be about many wakeful nights spent in laughter, joy, and love.

Lindsay and I are going to book our flights tomorrow for our week in Paris this spring! Yay!
