This cold is brutal, my darlings. I hardly ever get really sick (which means I'm a big baby about the whole thing), and I still can't believe this is happening in July. I stayed home on Monday but then felt better yesterday, with just an annoying cough, so I went to work. Seemed ok, but last night things took a turn. Suddenly, no more coughing but full-on congestion. I'd like to breathe now, please. It took me forever to fall asleep at around 2am finally, and then I woke up to Kitty yakking around 4:30am. She has fantastic timing. Then I'm awake but exhausted to deal with the mess, and I realize once again that breathing is an issue. Sayonara, sleep. So I try steam. I try nose-clearing techniques I find on the internets. With no real cold meds on hand, I try some benadryl, which I think helped the stuffy but also made me feel more anxious about not breathing. THEN, I go to heat up some water for tea, but I turned on the wrong burner with a pan sitting on it and didn't notice for a while. So my house now smells like burned pan Christmas tree (had some Thymes Frasier Fir fragrance spray left as a gift from the holidays). But, I can't really tell.
After all this, I was awake until about 6:30am before I passed out once again. I slept until after 10 when my sister called. I was still feeling pretty bad this morning, with hardly any voice, so I texted Em to see if she had any cold meds she could give me. The thought of getting myself together to go to the store was totally unappealing, not to mention trying to communicate with no voice. She's a lifesaver! She brought me some great stuff, and I'm feeling way better this afternoon. She also brought me the movie Twilight, which is just the right speed for my fuzzy head. Edward = Big head, Little body. Love it!
Speaking of Twilight, I had another convo about this with the WB the other day. I was like, "That's it! When New Moon comes out, you're going with me to see it...on opening night. You better watch Twilight so you're up to speed. I don't want to have to explain things to you later." Much to my surprise, he said he'd go to the movie, but he would not watch Twilight first, because he could guess what it's all about. Hmph. He then proceeded to rattle off a bunch of information about the movie he supposedly hasn't seen, which is suspicious, if you ask me. Maybe it's all a cover. Maybe he's secretly watching Twilight at home at night. I'm on to him!
The funny thing is that I didn't like the other books in the series much, and the Twilight movie isn't filmmaking at its finest, but now I feel committed to going to New Moon.
I'm hoping to be back out in the real world tomorrow, which should mean the end of my posting about cold woes. What's the point of having a blog if you can't whine and complain on it?
