Last night I talked with Molly and Travis on the phone. Molly informed me that Zozo has launched into the terrible twos a bit early and now is well-behaved about 75% of the time, rather than his usual 90%. He and I had a pretty interesting conversation. Well, after we got over the fact that he didn't really want to talk, and, I guess, kept shaking his head and putting the phone down. Apparently, he's been "off" the phone lately, which is a pity. He's usually such a chatterbox (something his auntie relates to and loves about him). But, finally, Trav succumbed to our insistence. Molly asked him what 1+1 equals, and he said "Twoooooooooo." After a little prodding, he made some pretty believable animal noises. Then, frankly, the weight of the conversation was on me. So, I filled him in on the ups and downs my life, asked for his advice on a couple of things. At one point I said, Isn't that cool, Trav? and he responded, after a brief pause in which I'm sure he was taking time to fully process my story, "Isssssss coo! Issssss coo!" Yes! The Trav man is very supportive, and he is still into saying cool. Molly tells me his favorite word, the one he wakes up saying first thing in the morning, is Audi (their car). Such a boy.
So, I'm going to visit Mols for a few days in July while Joe and Trav are in Colorado visiting Joe's family. I'm so looking forward to a vacation and some just sister time. We haven't really had that since Trav came along. And, I will overlap with the guys a little bit, so I will get to babysit Trav a couple of days while I'm there. I can't wait! I think it's time for another installment of Baby Boot Camp. My topics will be Flailing, Face-Planting, and Throwing a Temper Tantrum in Front of the Magazine Rack at Safeway is Not Okay, as well as How to Play Nice With the Kitty.
I'll be in Tahoe the exact dates of the Celebrity Golf Tournament. Molly suggested that we could go as spectators to heckle. I'm not sure. So far none of the names on the list really light my fire. Maybe if you replaced Maury Povich with Keanu Reeves or Clive Owen I could be persuaded. Until then, I think I'll choose the casino or hanging out at the lake instead.
Things have been going really well lately in terms of me seeing other people trip and fall. At the regional Emmy's, one of the award recipients totally biffed it while heading up the stairs to the stage. I chuckled at my table. At a work event this weekend, I was in the direct line of vision of a guy, probably in his mid to late fifties, who literally tumbled and started rolling down the stairs of the theater. An older woman standing in front of him stopped him with her legs. I managed to hold in my laughter until it was determined that he was fine and was safely seated. And then, there is this handy-dandy footage of Miss USA going down hard at the Miss Universe pageant. I giggle. I'm not a totally heartless bizatch, though. I feel for her. The good news is that she looked gorgeous and she handled it really well, but you know she must have been crying on the inside. Molly says that the audience very rudely booed her when she came out for her interview. I'm convinced that probably had more to do with everyone in the universe hating America, at this point, than it did with her trip.
