Hmmmmm. This piece on road trips in the Seattle Times has me a little worried. A friend at work brought the article in for me. One can only hope that my travel buddies and I will embrace the recommendations mentioned (frequent stops, snacks, good food, music, etc.). I picture it going well, but I guess you never know. Maybe I will bring it along to read aloud when needed. No matter what happens, I feel like my excitement for seeing all these new places will keep me happy. It will be fun!
One of the related articles suggests that a road trip should be mandatory before people get married or live together. I hadn't considered this before, but I can see how it could be a helpful indicator of compatibility. I suppose if you can avoid throttling someone after riding in a car with him and all his annoying habits for days and days, it's meant to be. I, of course, have no annoying habits whatsoever. Nope. None.
Just saw the Bumbershoot line-up, and I may have to go this year. I've still never been. It always sounds a little frantic and frustrating to me, but I think I'll have to push those feelings aside since I don't want to miss all these great bands.
