Why is it that when you leave on vacation in hopes of heading for warmer climates, your hometown, with arctic-like temperatures in June, turns hotter the day you leave than any of the places you will visit for the entire two weeks? Clearly, this is why Hawaii should always be #1 vacation destination. The good news is that I've returned home for summer.

Since returning from my trip, I am lacking blogworthy material for a very good reason that I will explain here. I don't know if this is just me or what, but I've come to the conclusion that the brain is fuzzy on the true meaning of vacation. Without the usual distractions, it is free to shift focus to the analysis of one's life and come up with helpful tips for self improvement. From the biggies--develop a career, find new apartment, start heavy duty exercise regimen, actually have direction in life, to the smaller stuff--start taking multivitamin, plant herb garden, read classics, enroll in classes, write. So far, have started taking multivitamins and planted a mini-herb garden on apartment deck, which was an ambitious and odd choice considering my roomie had to take my other sad wilted plants into her protective care months ago. Feel that vacation resolutions are similar to New Year. The thoughts are good in the moment but lose their luster when you're glued to the couch watching season two of The Office. Am convinced that my brain has collapsed from its exhausting work in Europe and is now demanding time off.

Must go. 24 Hour Party People is calling.
