In the world of Megan, the burning ritual that followed a delicious dinner at Luau (SO GOOD!) on New Year's Eve was excellent. We did not go to jail, because I offered up my back patio and a pot lined with foil as a safer place for the ritual. And, really, after further consideration, I think we agreed that time in the clink would most likely cancel out all the clearing of bad vibes anyway. Plus, how much clearing can you actually do if you're sitting there worried about getting nabbed by the fuzz for furtively setting fire at the Troll?

I kept telling peeps I was going to burn some shit for New Year's, and the response to this was overwhelmingly positive. Pretty much everyone was on board with the idea, wanting to do something similar themselves, or had stories about their own experiences. It's been a fun, yet unexpected, conversation starter, and I've loved chatting about it with peeps. The process itself was interesting. I started going through my stuff a day or so beforehand, and of course experienced a whole array of emotions as I read over, and kinda even relived in my mind, the things I was letting go. I felt the love, the joy of loving, confusion, sadness, loss, anger, clarity, gratitude, and, finally, total acceptance for all that is. I thought it might be difficult to actually let go of my work, but I kept surprisingly little. And, when the time came and all was gone, I noticed a perceptible shift. I felt peace and appreciation for these people and the things that happened, as they helped guide me to knowing my true self. Although, honestly, I think there will be scars tender to the touch for quite a while, I don't think I'll feel compelled to pick at them very often anymore. That is goodness.

Then, I drank some champagne and felt overwhelmingly happy to be in the moment of understanding, strength, and confidence that I will come out the other side of whatever happens.

I saw P.S. I Love You and Juno recently. Really liked both. I thought P.S. I Love You might end up too much girlie movie for even me (it was over two hours), but it was actually full of hilarious moments and hot men. I rolled my eyes only a few times.
