When I said there were no movies, beside Revolutionary Road (hope to see tonight), that I wanted to see, that was a total lie. I came home to realize that there are tons and tons of movies I want to see. First, I should tell you that I saw the Curious Case of Benjamin Button while I was away, which was very good. I recommend it in spite of its nearly three hour running time. It goes by fast. Others on my list include Doubt, The Reader, Rachel Getting Married, Seven Pounds, and Frost/Nixon. I was just in Crazytown before when I said there was nothing, but now I'm back! Kinda.
Update: Revolutionary Road is an amazingly excellent movie. I loved it. The story is tragic, beautiful, depressing, and even hilarious at times. The lighting and costumes are gorgeous. The acting is incredibly good, and it is easy to identify with the emotions and desires of the characters who feel trapped, in some way, in a life they may or may not want. Watching it I felt the turmoil, desperation, and disappointment in understanding that mundane reality isn't turning out how one hoped. Special slowly slipped away under the heavy dullness of regular. Coping with that realization proves challenging in different ways for Frank and April, who are complex and interesting characters. It's hard to hide from reality when there is one person (who is fantastic, by the way) determined to fully expose the truth. I must say, without having experienced this kind of life myself, I could relate to April's need to escape Revolutionary Road. My vote is unequivocally for Paris.
