Party people, as I mentioned, the next couple of weeks are going to be a bit crazy, so I'm afraid posting will be sparse. For the next several days I'm going to be in Vegas to see my twin and hanging out at Hood River with the fam (Polar Express!). I'm getting really excited to be in Vegas, not only to see my lovely friend, which is the best part, but I also realize I haven't been there in a few years now. Yikes! The funny thing is that now that I'm older I'm not about the gambling, partying, what-happens-in-Vegas-stays-in-Vegas experience. Shannon and I are talking about good food (naturally), movies, yoga, and leisurely hanging out. Leisure is the theme.

It looks like I may be taking the Trav-man with me when I go to K Falls for an extended stay right before Christmas. I think it will be fun, and my mom will be there to help, but this also means I will be in charge of him on a plane and during the days while they're at work and sometimes and night. Gah! The responsibility. I guess it will be a good practice run in case I ever decide to have kids of my own.

This weekend I babysat for very sweet baby-friend Charlie. He is super cute and smiley. Like Trav, he happily calls me Bacon. He doesn't ever say "you" to me, just Bacon. In fact, we were looking at one of his books on food, and there was a picture of bacon, which he identified right away. He shouted, "Bacon!" at the pic and then tapped me gently on the arm with his finger a couple of times to indicate my baconness as well. A little alarmed that perhaps he thought I was food, I launched into an explanation of how the bacon on the page wasn't the same as me, and I'm not sure it sunk in, but he didn't seem confused, so ok.

Today I emailed with my friend Casey, talking about Paris, and I said the upcoming trip will give me some incentive to finally learn French. I explained that French was my one unmet New Year's resolution (I'm clinging to this one), except for being nice, but I wasn't all that committed to the being nice resolution anyway. He wrote back giving me a free pass on not learning the French, since he's found that it's hard to really learn a language unless you spend a significant amount of time in a place where it's spoken. But, "No free pass on being mean, though." So then I retorted with "Fine. 'Be nice' will have to move to the top of the list this January 1. I guess." He said "Sure, sure. Don't forget 'get picked in the first round of the NBA draft' and 'learn how to shoot spider webs out of my wrists'."

Hmph. It's annoying when peeps know you a little too well. May just have to scratch "Be nice".

Have fun while I'm gone! I'll miss you!
