Little things that make my day:

1. Receiving my new hard drive. Yay! My computer is setting itself up now, so I'm on my back-up laptop. I'm going to become a laptop hoarder out of fear of not being able to compute. You will come to my house, open the closet door, and find a huge stack of laptops hidden away. Molly foresees me being weird, hovering over my laptop and carrying it with me everywhere. I'll scream, "Don't touch my laptop!" if you get near me. Yeah. I feel another stint in therapy coming on.

2. Unexpectedly finding the perfect deep, dark blue shirt while shopping - simple, pretty, and makes me feel somewhat sexy while still being work appropriate.

3. A pear-ginger martini.

4. Eating delicious sushi and laughing with my fantastic girlfriends.

5. Hearing my nephew say, "Mad like a hornet! Mat like a hornet! Bacon R. says that!"

6. Having my nephew get on the phone to tell me a long story about his activities of the day at an enormous park with a stage, while I hardly get a word in edgewise, and then him handing the phone back to his mom saying, "I told her all my stuff." After that, Molly took a moment to explain to him the concept of reciprocal phone conversations. We were cracking up.

7. Trav asking me what I'm watching after he tells me he's watching Lilo & Stitch. When I say Entourage, he says, "That's a pretty good show." He's never even seen it, of course.

8. Talking with my nephew. Period.

9. The Palin Debate Flow-Chart. Still cracks me up to look at it. I can't help it.

10. Having a man stop me on the street in Fremont to tell me I have a "great sense of style!" while flashing me an enthusiastic thumbs up. I couldn't believe it! Seriously, people. This has never happened to me before. Never. I think I owe it to my new shirt, beautiful black heels that I insist on wearing as often as possible because they are so beautiful, and my fun, fuzzy blue hat.

11. Having people way younger than me telling me I look way younger than my age. Again, never happened before, but it's started to recently. It used to be that people would tell me I looked/acted older than my age, but now it's gone the other way. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. Next thing you know, public opinion will swing the other way, and peeps will say to me, "Gawd, you look like you're 55!" when really I'm 42.

Both 10 and 11 may turn me hopelessly vain and fashion-obsessed.

12. Molly telling me that she responded to a coworker/friend's invite to a Tupperware party with, "Maybe I'd show up if I had nothing else to do whatsoever...and if I was 80." Love it! Us R. girls do not waste time with niceties.

13. A surprise card in the mail from one of my lovely friends.

14. The fact that a person at my sister's work is named Mary Fran. I don't know why, but I can't say that name without giggling non-stop. Mary Fran!

15. Talking with my friends about vibrators that look like hand mixers.

16. Thinking about my upcoming trip to visit my best friend and time with the fam at Mt. Hood. I'm excited to see everyone!

17. Calling one sister on her cellphone while both are out shopping together, hanging up, and promptly calling the other on her phone. Lots of sister giggling.

18. My cousin sending me an article with percentages of employers who say employees who dress up "tend" to get more promotions. Professionalism shouldn't go out the window, you know! I guess, but I love that he thought to send that to me. Thanks!

19. Being home after a fun but exhausting conference.

20. Feeling happy and content and hopeful and loved.

I'm still working on the love post. It's not done, but maybe soon.
