Maybe I was being a little bit of a baby yesterday when whining about my hotel room. In my defense, I was tired and cranky after a long day. Don't get me wrong, it's still crap. But, I'm having fun at the conference so I don't care as much anymore. This is a women in computing conference, and even though I'm not really a woman in computing, I'm enjoying the great energy of all the people who are obviously excited to be here. The day just zipped by. I've heard some excellent speakers and the sessions I attended were interesting for all the intense discussions sparked by the topics.

The banquet tonight was hilarious, as I was sitting at the table of funny comments, also known as the peanut gallery. For example, a company bigwig presented an award to a group of people, and before announcing the winners he told us that he is terrible at pronouncing names. We were all waiting expectantly for him to give it a shot anyway, but no. Instead, we sat in complete (awkward) silence while their pictures and names flashed on the big screen. The girl next to me turned to her friend and said loudly, "He could at least give it a try-y." That set me off giggling. I'm realizing now that this story may not be that funny to you, and my sense of humor could have been influenced by the couple of glasses of wine I had with dinner. I'm going to end this now.

Before dinner, I met a nice girl from New York, and I think we're going to hit the town tomorrow night so we can see more than just the Blue Hotel while in San Diego. I'm really glad that I'm going to have the chance to do that with someone fun. Things are looking up people!
