Perhaps drinking 8 cups of chai over the course of a late lunch/early dinner with a friend at one of our favorite Indian restaurants wasn't the wisest of decisions the day before going back to work. At 2:30am, my tired but zingy, wide awake self tossed and turned in bed, wrestling with all of my little, lonely middle of the night thoughts. I paid the price for that delicious caffeine, until finally, without noticing, I just wasn't awake anymore. I don't always operate very well with only a few hours of sleep. Actually, I can usually function okay at work and everything, but I just feel like a mess in every possible way. My hair gets all flyaway and misbehaves without her beauty rest, my skin becomes splotchy, and, even if I manage to appear normal, it just feels like my face and body were put together all wrong. I'm not even going to discuss my state of mind sans sleep. It's not pretty. One of my friends told me about the delectable new foods she prepared for her dinner, and I mumbled something about the box of Good & Plenty I tore open for mine. Yep.

The nice part was coming home to my cozy apartment and changing into my yoga pants, sweatshirt (with the hood pulled up, of course), soft socks, and glasses to hide out for the evening. Sometimes I just need a night like this, and I'm going to bed early. I'd like to be awake tomorrow, especially if I go see Little Miss Sunshine again with friends in the evening. But first, Nip to the Tuckity Tuck.
