Last night I went outside with a pitcher of water to tend to my little garden (yes, the plants are still alive mostly), and Kitty followed to get some fresh air. The next door neighbor cat, who I will call Bruiser in order to maintain his privacy, appeared from around the side of his house, meowing while carrying a leaf in his mouth. Leaves are his thing. Kitty meowed in response and went over to give him a friendly sniff. Bruiser dropped his leaf and started sniffing Kitty back. After a few moments, Kitty had enough socializing and turned to head back in to the house. Out of nowhere, Bruiser decided this was his opportunity to get some and mounted her from behind! Kitty let out a huffy yelp and attempted to scram. Bruiser started to pursue, but, appalled, I blocked him with the pitcher while Kitty dashed inside. Kitty has a very "No means no, Bruiser!" attitude. Who could blame her? I'm sure she couldn't believe that he'd have the audacity to try something like that after no foreplay. Plus, they haven't known each other very long. Clearly he is desperate for love, but does he take her for a floozie? Poor Kitty.
