My sister, Brynna, is moving to Maui in a week to live with Molly, Joe and the Trav. She needs a change of pace and is going to be a part-time nanny for the most adorable 7 month old nephew ever. I can't believe both of my sisters will live in Hawaii while I stick stubbornly to Seattle! I don't know why I do it (suppose it's the little matter of friends, music, arts, movies, etc.), but here I am.

If I never meet the man of my dreams, or if I find myself in a perpetual single girl dry spell, or if I most unfortunately end up with what I think is a dream guy, but he lacks zeal for bedroom activities (in this case Man of Dreams status drops to Man of I Guess), at least I have this to look forward to. I feel really lucky to be alive in the technology age. I also appreciate the friends who look out for me by sending links to articles on sex with robots.

I attended Anne Lamott's book reading in Seattle last night. I'm such a huge fan of her work, but I've never seen or heard her before. She is fun and funny, with interesting and entertaining views parenthood, religion and politics. It was great to finally connect the writing with the person, although her actual voice is very different than the voice I created for her in my head. Now I'm trying to toss out the made-up to replace with the real, which was weird when I read sections of Bird by Bird before bed last night. My mind kept switching from one to the other at practically every other line. It made me a little crazy.
