You know how when you look forward to something you know is going to be great, and then it turns out to be even better than you expected, after it's done you feel empty and mildly depressed because you don't have this amazing thing to look forward to anymore? That's how I was yesterday post-Nada Surf. Tired and bleah and wishing I could go to the show all over again. They are just too good. I love it! If you have a chance to see them, don't even think about it. Just go.

I had an email exchange with my Mom yesterday and shared my melancholy, expecting her to sympathize. To help her truly understand my sad state, I expressed that I hadn't felt this way since after the New Kids on the Block concert when I was 13. I figured that embarrassing tidbit would have an impact, but instead she wrote back to tell me to quit my whining since I have Hawaii to look forward to in less than a week. She even added a "duh" for emphasis. I guess she has a point.

After the show, Em, Dave and I had a little "incident" with the car. We had parked in a garage downtown that closed at midnight, only we didn't notice the signs when we arrived. We returned at 12:30am to find the car locked in the garage. Dismayed, we tried all the entrances and searched for someone to let us in. No luck. We encountered a group of girls in the same predicament and discussed our options. I had only taken the essentials into the show, and my purse, with my keys, were in Dave's trunk. There were lots of other problems for all of us with leaving the car there overnight, so we continued to poke around one of the chain garage doors. Dave discovered that we could lift it up enough for him (and one of the other girls) to flatten himself against the pavement and shimmy under, and off he went. Several minutes later he returned to tell us they had found someone to let the cars out.

Breaking and entering paid off! We were so relieved and happy to hightail it out of there, even though we got a $24 ticket for parking after hours. Luckily, the attendant didn't think to ask how we even got in, because the garage door we used would not go back down no matter how hard Emily and I stomped on it while waiting for Dave. Only outdoor parking for us from now on.
