Hmmmm. I know I'm no culinary wizard, but I think the world has officially given up on me. I'm invited to a holiday potluck dinner this weekend, and what did my friend ask me to bring in the assignment email? Chex Mix. Chex. Mix. The really sad part is that I don't even have the necessary equipment to put together homemade Chex Mix, so it's going to be store bought. I guess I should appreciate that my friends get me enough to know that cooking isn't really my thing--they still love me anyway--but I can't believe it's come to cereal snacks. At least they tell me encouragingly that they fully trust in my good taste in the buying department.

I will note that on the rare occasions I actually attempt to make something, the end result is rarely awful. So-so, yes, but hardly ever terrible. The problem is time. Once in a while I enjoy giving it a whirl in the kitchen, but usually I end up resentfully peeling potatoes or grumpily chopping away at veggies as I think about all the other things I could be doing. For a girl who loves to eat, you'd think I'd like being involved in the preparation process, but I don't. In my perfect world, I just sit down and all the delicious food magically appears in front of me.

Next time we invite you to a potluck, you'll be required to bring a "Home-made" CHOCOLATE CAKE!

I Swear! ;)
