I'm getting ready to hit the road again. Tomorrow I'm off to San Diego for a couple of days to meet up with one of my true partners in crime, my twin, to celebrate our 30th birthdays. After 15 years of friendship and kindred spiritness, this is actually our first real trip together, and I'm so excited for us to have a couple of days to talk and laugh and see the sights and eat delicious foods and lounge around at our leisure. Our visits are always great but usually under a pretty tight time frame, so there is some urgency to pack everything in. I'm looking forward to just being able to be for two days. We're staying in the Gaslamp Quarter, and after my brief visit to the city last year, I can't wait to see more!
After that, I'm jetting up to Reno to meet up with Molly and Trav, and then we're going to drive up to Klamath Falls to celebrate my mom's birthday with her a bit early. Sister Brynna (or Bernie, according to Zozo) and step-sis Lisa are meeting us in K Falls too. I'm so thrilled that in the span of six days, I'm going to get to spend time with nearly all the people I love who live far away from me (except for my Minnesota peeps. I wish I could!). I can hardly believe it. I feel so incredibly lucky.
I don't feel incredibly lucky that my flight leaves before 8am, which means I have to wake up at the buttcrack of dawn and will no doubt be a tired, messy, disaster for the rest of the day. I am not one of those people who is all sleek and lovely and refreshed looking/acting after little sleep and hours on a smelly airplane. Nope. I'm the kind whose outside accurately reflects her condition and the environment, and then some. Yay. However, my KS IS one of those people who always looks gorgeous and behaves perfectly no matter what the circumstances. Hmph. I will try very hard not to be too bitter about that one from the get-go. It might put a damper on our good time.
It's 10pm and I'm about halfway packed. So far I've avoided my usual sitting on couch eating English muffin, watching stupid movie on TV, totally procrastinating routine. Oooooooo, I think Nip Tuck is on. Must get the fro yo and settle in to watch. Oh my. Am giggling already.
The (((artists den))) <----(this is how the org writes it) Swell Season show the other night was totally awesome! I'm still reveling in the awesomeness. Hands down it is my favorite show of the year. The venue was pretty. The sound was great, and the music was beautiful. I think the pear martini is my new favorite drink. I had a fantastic time hanging out with Jen, who loved the whole thing as much as I did. We sat next to funny boys who graciously agreed to keep an eye on my things and tackle anyone who tried to run away with my purse while I stood in the martini line. I'm adoring Glen Hansard. He's a charming, charismatic, hilarious performer. The catchy "I Want My Life to Make More Sense to Me" song is stuck in my head. Because I do want my life to make more sense. I really, really do.
